Well, I would like to expand my knowledge about looping musicians... Do you know guys some musicians (on various instruments, not only Stick) playing with tons of loopers? I particulary love when the musician employs what I'm calling a kind of "dynamic technique of looping" (with some layers fading and replaced by some other layers) rather than the musicians that create static loops and jam over them all way long (unless that this technique is well done, like Glenn Poorman or Guillermo Cides). Do you have some names/links to share? |

For a multi-instrumentalist I would look at Keller Williams: http://www.kellerwilliams.net/ A simpler approach, the little Aussie tree hugger: http://www.xavierrudd.com/ Phil Keaggy is an amazing guitarist and also a creative looper: http://philkeaggy.com/bio/ Per Boysen from Sweden is at the forefront of using computer based looping: http://www.perboysen.com/ I agree with Bryan, Steve Lawson is also great in the context of a single instrument looper. I always recommend Zoe Keating for a very orchestral layering of her cello: http://www.zoekeating.com/ For something completely different, I also like Juana Molina: http://www.juanamolina.com/. i am new the world of looping too... but i can never find much on looping with sticks and basses... i see more acousitc players out there... i know Mr cides does some looping but again there isnt much out there.. i do some looping.. but mainly when i am playing guitar with my Gr-20 synth.. i can do the drugs and other instruments as a solid loop.. darren/gnat |
