Nothing to see with music but every time I see one of the movies of Bourne Films I have to put the tv off if I want to continue to do what I was doing. If I look a bit more I'm trapped...lol.

I need to throw in a music plug...I'll stop and watch both "Wall Street" and "Talk Radio" for both the movie content, but also the music content - Stewart Copeland.

Airplane! = Greatest movie of all time.
The Battle of Britain = second greatest movie of all time, anyone spot a trend? :P
For music in movies my favorite has gotta be A Clockwork Orange.

JohnMac,

Totally agreed on Rear Window. Love it, love it. Grace Kelly, mmmmm. And totally brutal, without any blood at all. Probably my favorite Hitchcock, although I don't spy it on TV too often.

Brosky,

Disagreed on Death Proof. I found it pedestrian, churlish and inept... not at all like Quentin's other works. Much preferred Rodriguez's Planet Terror. And the shorts between the two movies were fantastic. Inglorious Basterds, now there's a great piece. Pulp Fiction, great stuff. Didn't care for Django. Doesn't hold a candle to Kill Bill Vol. 1, or even Jackie Brown. Which brings me to the thrust of my post...

1) Kill Bill Vol. 1. The second is totally anticlimactic.
2) Inglorious Basterds. I went into the movie believing I was going to get a bloody WW2 movie based on historical fact. What I got was a Nazi fantasy tale, brilliantly constructed by Tarantino. Just brilliant.
3) The Thing. Not the 50's monster movie, and certainly not the crappy remake passed off as a prequel. No, John Carpenter's version... perhaps among the greatest horror movies ever made, and the closest thing to Lovecraft ever shot on film. Nothing else compares.
4) The Karate Kid. Best one-liners, ever. Sweep the leg.
5) Flash Gordon. Max von Sydow's greatest performance. I get hot every time I think about the bore worms. And Brian Blessed is the greatest actor of all time, playing a hawk man with paper mache wings that don't move. What's not to like?
6) Night of the Living Dead. Still a fave, although I'm waiting for Romero's epic sequel to get a play on TV someday. Romero's last few really sucked. Land of the Dead was total garbage. Zombies that think and feel... give me a break. I wanted to see the planet as a writhing, self-consuming mass at war with a handful of humans with the remnants of technology to fight them. What a disappointment.

Good thread. I'll think of some more.

Hitchcock's 'North By Northwest'
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World. (Johnathan Winters' fight in the gas station kills me every time).
Harvey
Arsenic and Old Lace

And, of course, The Party (Peter Sellers)

Dude! Take your TV out of the closet and indulge yourself, already! ;)

Horror! Sci-Fi! Action! Suspense! Comedy!

In your defense... Natalie Wood was really hot.

No, he's not - and don't call him Shirley.

How is it, in this crowd, that no one has yet mentioned "This Is Spinal Tap"?
