Post Grand staff, Sticks and Bach
So, Gusset I agree more traditional stuff is welcome. And you are right you may never be as good a sight reader as others around you, I'm in the same boat. However I read music every day for me it's an important skill to have. So let's keep going and hope that others join us, I salute you.

Greg I have secretly working on the 4th invention as well. Now I've blown my cover, for me the piece has enormous importance it's how I discovered Back 30 years ago thanks to a great friend. Will I ever be proficient at it? Who knows? It's about the journey for me, so I'm psyched you're learning it and I will be picking your brain rest assured

Cheers, Brett!

It's not a piece I have in my aural memory as much as some others, but the beginning of it grabs me with a great fury. I love it, and in audiation I can already hear what it will sound like when I can play it.

Is there a particular recording of it that you like above any other?

I'm playing it an octave down from the pitch it's originally written for, and I love the sheer power of it in that range...

Looking forward to discussing it with you.

Try Wes Montgomery's Bach to Bock. Great relaxed tune

The best of both worlds. I always loved the way Bill Evans used what felt like traditional counterpoint in his voicings. Truly Classical Jazz in every sense.
