Post Block Chord Solo Transcription
Hi all.
If you're interested, I just put up a page with a transcription one of the mp3s I've had up on my site for a long time. In the recording, I play a solo using right-hand drop 2 block chords over a walking bass on blues changes:

There is a link to a page showing the shapes in use. If the page asks, select your instrument and tuning and it will try to figure out how to play it on your instrument.

It has a nice jazz sound. Your chord fingerings are interesting on the right hand. I've never used my thumb for right hand chords (or left hand) on the stick. I think I might give it a stab!

If you use your left hand to do diminished chords on the melody side rather than bass, you can play the chords solos faster:

Hey Mark,

The information you have here is fantastic, I've been slowly working on this myself and you helped a lot, I'm plugging it into my jazz piano knowledge and going from there.

I noticed that on the stick portion of your site that not all concepts for stick have a link, is there any place where it's all available? Perhaps a pdf or text?

Thanks again.

Steve

Glad you are finding the pages useful. Yeah, I'm stealing a lot of it from piano players, especially Mark Levine's "The Jazz Piano Book". The missing links are for pages that I intend to create but haven't created yet, sorry! I can think of the things way faster than I can make pages about them. LOL.

I adore that book, a vital jazz tome!
