Post Melody String Block Chords
I've recently been into the N/S Stick although I know the Stick also has it's Melody strings tuned in 4th's. I've found that 7th chords with an inverted 3rd (10 chords?)are super comfortable to play with one hand, however I've found myself stuck in the habit of playing only 7th chords. Although it sounds cool it's redundant and boxes my playing in while trying to learn a composition.

Anyways...

My question is what kind of block chords are comfortable to play with just my right hand? I need schooling.

Check out the Baritone Melody versions of the Cord Compendium and The Stick Book.

http://www.stick.com/method/resources/chords/

All will be revealed. Baritone Melody is a half step lower than the standard NS tunings first 5 strings

The most common definition of a block chord contains 4 voices. Therefore if played with one hand on the melody side the thumb would be needed, as Mark Smart has demonstrated. Using two hands makes playing in this “chorale” style much easier.

For ease of use I mainly keep my thumb behind the neck and play 3 (or more) note voicings.

Adding the 4th note does add richness. And when you want to please Miles you gotta play block chords like Red!!

Wes albums like Smokin at The Half Note are lessons in creative solo development. Listen to Unit 7, Four on Six and No Blues. Incredible!!!!
I recorded a song with Larry Coryell based on 4 on 6 titled 9 on 12. Also recorded his tune Sundown
Listen to Wes regularly. The supreme improviser
