Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I just noticed that little paper woven into the melody strings near the nut. Anybody have insight as to what that’s for?
I know about extra dampening (extra velcro strip) and about muting (Greg’s trusty electrical tape) but I’ve never seen it down that way. With a guy like Tony there is probably a specific reason he went that route.

Have no idea, but thanks for resurrecting this thread. Had the opportunity to shake the Great Man's hand a few years ago at an Adrian Belew concert (small club - fabulous) where they duplicated the King Crimson double-trio (Belew, Levin & Mastellato made up half of the gang on-stage).
