Post Questions about trading in sticks to SE (Xpost from NS)
Hey guys,
I posted about this before in the NS/Stick forum accidentally, and figured I might get more responses here.

Essentially my first post was this:

I've often thought about trading in my 10 string for a railboard, a grand or an SG-12.
I know that sticks hold their value and that if i sold it, a new stick would really only set me back a little more. But with shipping and new taxes, how expensive might it be?

When I bought my stick in roughly november 2008, the aus dollar was around $0.70 US, like it is right now, and buying the case and with taxes it ended up being about 5-6 thousand AUS.

Does anyone have any experience in this area?
I live in australia if that helps.

Then Greg Chimed in with this

It's an interesting idea. Would you only have to pay taxes on the difference if you traded it in? If so it might be worth the shipping costs. On the other hand, you'd be able to sell it for a decent price most likely.

Does anyone have experience with this?
