Yep, E Phyrigian's lower tetrachord is EFGA which is the same intervallic relationship for Locrian BCDE. It doesn't matter if you want to call EFGA a Locrian or a Phrygian tetrachord. What matters is that you know why you're calling it that. It's because it's different from Ionian, Aeolian, and Lydian since it starts with a half step. |

BCDE transposes onto EFGA, and is the same as what you would call a Locrian tetrachord. If I'm wrong, well, it's all labels. I can change a label, but practicing tetrachords counts for a lot more. R |

Yeah, that's gonna work. Like you said, it's just a label. As long as you know what you meant. |

Tatsu, I'm looking at your downloaded graphic file. These dots on the lines - are they one fret apart, or two, or some other distance from each other? R |

Hi Rodan, the three notes on the first line in the upper left hand corner are a half step apart. the one below that has a half step then a whole step etc... |

Tatsu, I've written everything you posted on a graph paper, and I've begun to practice it, not as a memorization tool as you seem to have intended, but as a fun "key-less" practice session. It's making my hands a little stronger.. Let me know if you want to photograph it and post it. Later I'll put in Sibelius or something. If I do, would you want me to harmonize it in a key, or leave it "out"? Roy |

Yeah, I also see it that way too. Something different. No need to throw out everything you already do, just add another tool to the box is all. |
