You will find Watco Danish Oil at RONA in Fort Qu'Appelle,
298 , Victoria Avenue, Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, S0G 1S0

It's available in different tints. I use the natural on my vintage stick.

Great ideas guys. I will do the DIY soap box deal AND check out Watco oil...also to see how my wood box craft will do with Watco.

If you can install a small Hygrometer on your case,
you can always tell when to dampen the sponge again.

Oh nice. Do you gig out there much? Are you friends with Dale L?

And I'm now a big fan of CJSR. They've played my album quite a bit on their jazz & prog shows, so I started paying attention to them. Great programming. The Organ Grinder - an all organ-based show on Wed afternoons is pretty nice. (I'm a sucker for quality radio).

I don't gig at all. I am just a stick hack lol.
I work full time and have family medical concerns that take up most of my free time.
I do know Dale.
Have met her on several occasions. Very cool lady and a awesome stick player. have not had the pleasure of jamming with her.
My wife and I try to support her whenever I can. Have been to a few house concerts with her and Nathan Aswell.
I am trying to devote more time to playing because it such a stress relief, and its just so damn cool.

Cheers

I bought a 1-quart can of Watco way back when I got my first Stick in 1993/94. I was applying it on my solid Rosewood and solid Teak Grands with every string change. I've hardly made a dent in it.

Granted, I have had a graphite XG Grand for the past 11 years, and my SG12 is Sunset-stained bamboo, so it doesn't get used it on my Sticks anymore, but I still use it on my guitar fingerboards and the wood finishes on my Stick stands. (I do crack the can open every so often and take a whiff of the oil, just for old time's sake - "New Stick Smell™") :D

As to the issue of "fret sprout," traditionally, it is best to address them when the issue is occurring - file down the edges when they are most prominent. Then, when the humidity rises, the fret/rail/rod ends will be recessed ever so slightly.

Take care,

Paul
