Hi Kev
As it happens I was just watching one of your videos a couple of days ago, quite enjoyed it, Beatles I recall.

Cheers , B :D

Post Re: ... the decision not to make videos/recordings

given the rarity of video material available on the network (compared to other instruments, the guitar in the first place), can not rule out the educational purpose of making videos with the stick, regardless of quality of the video itself.I hope that the videos will be increasingly many, which will contribute to the dissemination of specific musical ideas of the instrument, and, in general, to the spread of its use. [From Google Translator] :D

Gene -
Your "Finished Not Perfect" video spoke volumes to me. Just a little over 2 years in. When I started I said I'd be happy if I could stumble my way through 1 song in the next 3 years. I was overwhelmed by the talent I thought would be necessary to learn... and play... this instrument.

Now as I travel down this road and look back, I have come a long way. I can play.. pretty well... about a dozen songs. Not 'perfect' and (IMHO) not yet finished lol! Still a long way to go. But now I feel like I can do a few songs in front of an open mike, or even post a video or two without cringing (well, maybe a little cringing  ). Thanks to skype lessons I have also gained a huge knowledge of music theory and the marvels of the geography of the Stick.

Thanks for posting that video, I feel better!

Thanks Rand, I'm so glad we connected on that. I feel better too hearing you say it the way you did.

I've really enjoyed watching other players rise up from simple chords and scales to full blown arrangements in video. We can't all be David Tipton, sweeping through songs like Sauron mowing down elves with a sword and a mace hehe.

Me? I need a marker and that starts with failing. Failing hard. And then, not failing hard again. Were I younger man, I might feel differently, especially if I was trying to earn a living in the music industry. I'm okay with having my nose rubbed in my old videos. They are milk toast in comparison to the meltdown I had in my first set at FHA 2013.

Emmett actually came over to me that evening and said he was sorry that the first set did not go the way I wanted it. I looked him straight in the eye and let him know it was the BEST possible thing that could have happened. Because it will never happen again.

And so far, it hasn't! :D

For me, making a video is like taking a picture. It captures a moment in time. As time marches on we change. I wouldn't expect anyone to look at a picture of me when I was 5 years old and think I still looked that way, thought that way and acted that way :) I apply the same logic to my past videos.

Music needs to come out of the rehearsal room
Posting a video is a way to tell the world something about you - directly from your heart.
Playing live is a step above, cause there is no redo button.

And about the Classical musicians:
I played my first solopiece on the stick about one month ago. In the audience (about 70 persons) were 2/3 musicians - most of them pros with classical background.

But with the stick i have a simple advantage:
Nobody can compare me to other stickplayers, because we are that rare
