Yeah, I would start out with something like a drumstick and just see how it feels. Having a LapDawg as an option is really nice to have. It affixes to the instrument and adds a small amount of weight, but having the comfort and convenience is totally worth it.

I like the seated play options, that is definitely interesting and something I'll use repeatedly in the future.

rwkeating I tested the idea of having the arm out from my body, and noticed on every video I've seen that players have their arms out. That has to mean something! However I think I burned out my shoulder trying so much over the past few days that some serious wait time is needed. When it bothers me during the day, totally apart from any playing, that really isn't a time to test new positions. When I come back to the bass side I'll have to do it very deliberately but I'll be posting again soon.
