Re: Which 12 String tuning do you prefer?
Hey Josh,
I think the list for this needs to be a little different:
Matched Reciprocal™ 6+6 12-String Classic™ 6+6 Matched Reciprocal™ with high bass 4th 12-String Classic™ with high bass 4th 12-String Classic with high bass min 3rd MR with high bass min 3rd Deep Matched Reciprocal™ Dual Bass Reciprocal™ 12-String Classic™ 7+5 Mirrored Fourths
Thanks for doing this...

Love 6+6 Classic. Switching from 10-string to Grand, this tuning gave me everything I loved about the BM tuning plus the extended range of the 10-string Classic tuning.
I tried MR for a while and it just didn't do it for me so I switched back.
Haven't tried the others.

What about the Dual Bass Reciprocal/Standard Bass (possibly w/ high 4th or min3rd)?

Marty Hi Marty, Since the high altered notes are designed to facilitate chordal accompaniment, and the DBR is designed to marry the two-handed inverted 5ths with a conventional 4ths bass tuning, this is an unexpected idea, but there's no reason not to do it if that's the tuning you think you'd like to use.

Re: Which 12 String tuning do you prefer?
hey Marty, glad to hear of another ''DBR '' player in our clan. My grand sick is somewhere in this run ; Lt bamboo, w/ new pas4. I am going to try a ''7-5'' tuning. I had a chat with Mr Chapman, and he'll set it up for a try. Let me explain , I've had my SB8 in dbr for a year now, as I progressed I wanted more exposier so I picked up a 10 stg in DMR. Well , this should keep anyone busy for a long ....time! well the time has come for shoulder surgery I spoke of in the old forum. I'll recover in a fairly short amount of time but with my right arm down for a spell I'll be a lefty for a minute. Since I'm a working musician, I can't miss any gigs {contracts, good money, etc.} I had my SB8 set up in staight 4ths. so I can play without moving around to much. Well, the range is wonderful !!! So, my grand will be like an SB8 with the inverted 5ths of a ten stg. I know, it sounds a little weird but makes sence to me...I'll give it a ride for a while then post my report. ....Tony

Re: Which 12 String tuning do you prefer?
Tony-I talked w/ Emmett about the 7+5 and kind of chickened out what with the p.u. split and the space between string sets, although I like the range on the melody and continuity of 5ths/4ths. But I also want to try out the 6-string range on the "bass" side-along with alternate high tunings, so I'll play it out this way for now...just see what "works" for me. But with the adjustability of the newest sticks vs. my ironwood, I have unlimited potential possibilities to find my voice...we'll have to compare "notes".

Re: Which 12 String tuning do you prefer?
Hi Marty, I know what you mean about low bass ''E'' being first in the 2nd string group. I keep 2nd guessing myself , but I think it'll be fine. I just want to have ''home base'' right in the center of my stick so I'm grounded while I'm playing pop tunes , standards, etc. theres no better way to learn than on the gig. I'll know a lot more after I use it awhile...T.D.
