It's not possible to get a chart (kind of) to get an idea about the construction of a stick? For example:

001 to 1000 between 19XX and 19XX
1001 and 2000 between 19XX and 19XX...etc.

These serial numbers...are they including all the sticks or if there are different serial numbers for a 10 strings, a 12 or a Railboard? Interesting to know

Thank you.

I know this topic has been discussed here over the years, and on the old Stickwire email list. But, I can't find those references to point you towards.

Basically: in 1974 it started with Stick #101 and went to the upper 2000s by 1990-91. Emmett started over with #001 in the early 90s with the creation of the Stick's new truss rod (and adjustable bridge?).

Therefore, there are two Sticks with the numbers #101-2000something. My 10-string Maple laminate Stick is #1283, built in 1996 (with truss, adjustable bridge, fret rods, etc). But there is a #1283 Ironwood from 1984 out there somewhere.

Sticks are now in the #6000s. And there are no #3000s Sticks...I forget the reason why. Something about catching up the serial number to the amount of Stick in existence, I think.

And I don't know how NS Sticks fit into this, if they have their own numbering system.

And...I think Railboads simply have an "R" with it's number.

Hope this helps...

NS/Stick seems to be date of manufacture, which is doubly useful info, although it doesn't give you the number of such instruments out there.
#170130 = 2017 January 30th.

My 40 year old Angico stick is #404 made on 13Mar78.
I really like the tone that I can get from this vintage stick.

I think I remember the graphite models have X or something in the serial number ... I could be wrong though.

My grandstick numer is 1313!!! i bought it third or fourth hand, so the previous owner couldn´t tell me what year is it but it looks from beginning of the 90´s, it says Chapman Stick on the plate on the headstock instead of Grandstick so i think it´s one of the first Grandsticks...
