Post subject:  Information about string gauges

Hi guys,

As far as I understand, we can order strings directly from SE for every model and tuning available. Great! But, what I have not been able to find yet is a sheet/table (or any info) with the actual string gauges nor if it's wound/plain for the different tunings.

I just bought a used stick, which I understand has light strings installed tuned in classic 10. It also came with a new set of medium gauge and a used set of light strings, plus some assorted spares. How could I tell the gauge of the strings (i.e. 0.013") and also for which tuning these were meant to be?

Cheers!
Walter

Hi
It ist still a mystery - don´t ask me why - there are a lot of topics about it in this forum, but no answer.
after 3 years of playing the stick, i accepted that it is, as it is

Yes, that's what use as well. Typically I order one 0.009 set for electric guitar for the melody side and a put together a custom set for the bass side.

Emmett describes the classic 10 string gauge (what would be considered a light set) on Page 3 of Free Hands.

Some of the strings changed from what was published there. I don't know what they are now a days.

Do you use “normal” guitar strings on a Stick? Are they long enough? I read somewhere that even bass strings wouldn’t sound good on a stick.
