Something I hadn't considered when I submitted the order form is how the aluminum of the Railboard is to play on in the winter. We tend to keep the house fairly cold. Will it feel like my life is being sucked out by my hands, or is it OK?

I have a RB and haven't noticed anything regarding to coolness to touch (or hotness) while playing. Its a stable metal, meaning it doesn't move as much as wood and you almost never need to adjust the truss rod. It is more than OK, it's almost indestructible.

It's very stable from a head expansion/contraction perspective, but it's also an excellent conductor of heat.

Stephen Sink noticed with his new RB that it could get very cold, but as folk have said, it warms up very quickly.

My Railboard was delivered to me on Christmas Eve (1673 days ago), after sitting in the mailtruck for a weekend, at something like 15 degrees F here in Michigan. When I pulled it out of the Stick Box, it was sooooooooo cold. And it clinked and clanked for a few seconds because the truss was messed up. I'm talking like grabbing metal ice cube trays right out of the freezer. It quickly warmed up, but I had to do a truss adjustment right off the bat after getting it to eliminate the clankiness. But that's an extreme case and I have never put the Railboard through that again. The Railboard always feels about room temperature to me, and even in the coldest of winter, has never felt cold to me, after picking it up out of its case. Except when I transport it in the winter, and it sits in the trunk in its case for a couple of hours. But even then, it still warms up quickly.

Anodized aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat. And the Railboard is a fricking tank, it terms of toughness and durability. I'll share my Unboxening video for you to see what I'm talking about.

Ah excellent! It means a lot coming from someone who knows what real cold is.

Sorry to resurrect the the thread, but a recent gig makes this an apropos topic:

I just played a Farmer's Market gig where it was 45-degrees F the whole time. It was actually a fun gig, but if I hadn't had a propane shop heater pointing at me the whole time, I definitely would have had cold finger/stiffness issues. This was on my NS/Stick with a Moses neck, which felt fairly "neutral" to touch the whole gig.

I realized, *most* of the gigs we play seem to be outdoors these days.

So it's one thing for a neck material to warm up to "room temperature" indoors, but who's actually played a cold outdoor gig on their railboard? What was it like?

Asking because I have a railboard on order and I'm having serious second thoughts about my material choice after this morning!
