Noisy volume pots in R-Block
Hi all, I've been happily getting reacquainted with my Railboard since changing the strings on it. But I'd forgotten that a while back there's been some noise happening with both the volume pots on the R-Block, mostly when getting close to full volume, and more noticeable on stronger taps. I'm thinking they're just a little dirty and some contact cleaner might take care of it, but I want to check with everyone here first before I go opening it up ... and I seem to remember that I can access the pots by just removing the cover, by taking off the two screws at upper right and lower left? I really wish I'd remembered the noise when I was restringing it!!
- Remove one of the two trapezoidal shaped rear covers on the Railboard "R-Block". - Spray the noisy interior pot or rotary switch with an electrical contact restorer (cleaner). - Wipe off excess liquid with a tissue or cloth. - Turn the control several times vigorously. - Play-check Railboard for noise free operation. - Re-fasten rear cover.
