I never much cared for videos like this as they tend to relegate instruments to "Circus Side Show" status.

I may be getting my viewing mixed up but I see no reason to build an instrument to play Dust In The Wind.

I mean, the Stick IS really exotic and obscure to most people. It's our jobs to make it less exotic and obscure so we don't get lumped into anymore cringe categories like this

I think it starts at exciting and original material. Although covers sound nice and catch people's attention, at the end of the day it's a gimmick. We as a community of musicians need to work towards defining our roles in a band setting instead of all advertising ourselves as solo musicians. Until bands actively start seeking Stick players or starting projects of our own were going to keep getting lumped into categories like this.

Somehow I don't see the Stick lumped in with the Pyraphone  or any other examples they gave for that matter...
