Re: strings gauges
Hi the only "official" is in emmets "Free Hands". But I´ve read in this forum, that SE changed the gauge over the years. There are several threads about this topic here, but very low information about this.

I guess to stop people seeking alternative suppliers too easily? Which reminds me I need to re-string the Alto this week with my spare pack.. A new set in to Australia with exchange rates and shipping is about $100 Aus. . The strings you saw at Stick Camp which were new , are finally dead!.

Re: strings gauges
I typically go with a 0.009 or 0.010 as the thinnest for my twelve-stringed sticks and SG-12s. On the melody side I use a regular guitar set and on the bass side I pick strings to match the required pitches. For SG-12 I like the sound better when using a little fatter strings and tuning the instruments lower than the SE recommendation while on the 36" Stick I rather go with as thin strings as possible and tune the instrument higher, one or two half notes. All for the best sound, to my ears.
(edit:) I'd like to add that I think all my instruments sound better when using a set of strings that stretches a little harder than the SE recommendation (meaning fatter strings or higher pitched).

Re: strings gauges
Back when I worked at a Texas music store (20 years ago), one of the string repairmen had a tool that measured string gauges. So I measured my Stick strings and kept a record of them.
Here are the gauges for a 10-string Baritone Melody HEAVY:
1st - .010 2nd - .014 3rd - .018 4th - .027 5th - .038 6th - .128 7th - .087 8th - .048 9th - .026 10th - .016

Re: strings gauges
You could use a micrometer and check your outgoing set but good luck finding alternative strings long enough for a Stick for anything other the first and last string. Even then you'll only get about 2 wraps around the tuning machine -barely enough to hold tuning.
