Post Re: Calling all stations
Thanks for all of this! It’s a worthwhile resource. But I’m confused. Where is the Google Sheet referred to? I see links to instagram, which I don’t use and don’t care to. Is there a link to a standard sheet summarizing all of this? Thanks again.

So far as I recall it never appeared on here?

Same here.

The reason I queried the 'bt' labelling of a few of strings was that I was re-tabulating some of the data into a different format. It has all the potential zero (X) fret notes going across the sheet, with each different bass & melody tuning getting a separate line down the sheet. It only considers light gauge (since that's what I use...), but the framework could be used for other gauges too.

Looking at the figures tabulated that way reveals a few possible anomalies (i.e. big differences in string gauge for same note in different tunings).
I also tried plugging some of the figures into the string tension calculator at Stringjoy - that also seems to suggest a few anolamies (i.e. some apparent tensions way out of line with others).

My alternative view sheet is currently in ods format. Somewhat to my surprise that format can be attached. :)

I've made a simple html table version of that same data now too.

These tables show both B2 strings on RMR tunings as plain, i.e. string 4 as .014 plain & string 10 as .016 plain (the string numbers are for a 12 string instrument).

I have two RMR light sets purchased last year direct from SE, & both have a wound string 10.

Does anyone know what gauge that wound B2 is?

I've tried using a (cheap) vernier caliper, but I don't seem to have the knack of using it with wound strings. i.e. I don't get the expected result for 'known' strings, so I can't trust what I get for unknowns!

Visually it seems smaller than the .022w F#2, and my unreliable caliper technique also shows a difference between them. Maybe .020w or .018w?
