Same here (including the charming spouse). That was really fun. I guess Abba would be my "Guilty pleasure", if there is such a thing. But if you listen to "The Day Before You Came", it becomes evident that they had more to offer than "just" happy music.

This is absolutely true. I was perusing another forum one time when somebody said something like "what would we all do if there were no KC" and they almost seemed insulted when I replied "listen to something else."

HERETIC! ;)

I presume you are referring to KC, from the Sunshine Band. ;)

I have a very soft spot for lots of early 80's (& late 70's) "New Wave" music. The Vapors, the Ramones, the Buggles, and the Knack, (whose singer just died :( ). These and many more.

I can think of a few bands I feel I am supposed to like, but don't: Steely Dan  (okay I do like Reeling in the Years, but otherwise there music just sorta bugs me) Little Feat- I have friends that think they are so great, but to me...zzz. Guilty anti-pleasures?

Post Re: Guilty pleasures
I don't know if I would call it a guilty pleasure, but more "unexpected". I tend to listen to progressive, artsy, and sometimes weird/noisy stuff. Usually rock or jazz based. But I absolutely love salsa and latin jazz. I even played congas in a salsa band during college. I guess it was more unexpected back in the day when I was going through this kind of "gothic" phase. Imagine long black hair, black leather trenchcoat, and combat boots. Step into the car, roll down the windows, and start blasting.. Poncho Sanchez?

Hmmmmm.

On a weird and beautiful day I'll listen to Fad Gadget -"Gag", Ultravox -"Systems of Romance" "Rage in Eden", Eisterzende Neubauten.

Guilty of Telly Savalis solo album, Al Martino, "Music to watch Space Girls go by" - Leonard Nemoy, ELO - "Turn to Stone"

Too many to think of really.

When I had my restaraunt and my staff saw me coming to a boil, they would quick put a quarter in the juke and blast "Witchitaw Lineman" by Glen Cambell. I'd start singin and calm down immediately. I think it's that ..."I need a small vacation..." line.

Tops of my list would include The Blue Nile, ELO, CSN&Y, Sting, Steely Dan, Will Ackerman, Pete Townshend, Indigo Girls, Imogen Heap... .

All of the rest is an embarrassment of riches!

Take care,

Paul

Well, I think that you lot hardly have any guilty pleasures, in other words they all sound pretty respectable. My main interests would be Prog, hard rock, some metal, easy listening jazz, jazz fusion. My guilty pleasure music is stuff that my kids play and I hear a lot ............ worst offender - soundtrack to High School Musical. great songs there!
