Post OH NO! MIDI PICKUP ONLY WORKS ON ONE STRING?
Basically i had a Gk-3 pickup installed on the mellody side of my stick at the end of 08 when i bought it.
I've only just had a chance to try out a gr-20 (New out of the box at the store)
And only the lowest mellody string (E) sent a signal.
All other parts of the pickup worked including bank switching.
Is this problem common? And what should i do?

Every synth you plug into has to be adjusted to the pickup. There is a sensitivity control for each string. It is a quick easy step. If you don't do it you will most likely get nothing. If you adjust it and make it too sensitive, that string will trigger when you hit other strings. The Roland GR 20 has a setting for guitar or bass. It basically changes some patches to get the proper register.

Oh, I forgot to mention READ THE MANUAL!!!. It will give step by step instructions on how to adjust the sensitivity.
Good luck, have fun and enjoy!!

there didnt apear to be any signal going to the unit from the other strings. At all.

posting.php?mode=reply&f=2&t=2681

when a string is played here, a light turns on above the signal.
This only happened with one string.

Is it likely there is a problem with the modified pickup from Stick Enterprises.

Yes you were right in that the sensitivity needed to be adjusted. The trick to get each string to register in the first place was to pluck a 24th fretted note over the midi pickup. then i could adjust it.

Thanks for the help.

I haven't even plugged my Roland MIDI in yet - and I've had my Stick for two years. (lots of downtime for medical reasons) Now that I'm healthy and playing daily, I guess it's time to READ THE MANUAL. it'll be going thru a NORD LEAD II and Alesis SR-16. OH, YEAH!

Peace, Marty
