Taking a week off.
So I just got back from Frisco. A week of family vacation and nooooooooo sticking (actually I got to hear Bob Culbertson for about an hour GREAT STUFF). I haven't taken this much time off in a long time.
Now I go to sit down and play........ I'm a bit scared (and excited as well). What will I remember? how rusty will I be? How long will it take to get back in a sequential practice routine? Does anyone care, other than me?
ok enough stallin I'm going to play

Re: Taking a week off.
I just spent from 7am to 1:00pm trying to get a new original tune to work-maybe I need a week OFF!

It takes me a LOT longer than that to get a tune down. Everyone learns at their own pace. I am one of the slowest music learners I have ever dealt with (and I have a masters in Music Ed). It just take patience and planning.
I just went through my repertoire and realized that I have lost the ability to play 4 tunes (1 original and 3 jazz tunes). It is always interesting to see how long it takes me to get a tune back in playing shape, this is the first time in a long time that I have had this many to revive. I know that I will get them back though.
slow learning is humbling, but you are not alone. In time it will come.
take a week off? it doesn't work for me, but for others a day or 2 seems to help.
