Die-cut or die cast? I guess the headstock is the part that allows for higher dimensional tolerances, so I can be cheaply made via mold casting; much more cheaper than CNC.

Randy, I was talking only of the headstock (following the posts from Olivier & Per) For the rest of the instrument I agree with what you say, it won't make sense to start just out of a block of aluminum; use precision only where needed. Daniel.

yeah - I would imagine the entire thing will eventually be made out of one solid piece or else some of the benefit seems lost.
Maybe that's the difference with the other various composite materials he's used in the past - the aluminum can be made to incorporate the frets...none of the others can.
Pretty interesting approach - make the whole thing out of one material, super harden/anodize the frets and fret board, then add the other various components.
No fretting - just some truss rod adjusts & intonation work.
