Interesting and beautiful! How does the durability compare to the stainless steel and regular guitar frets? Regular aluminium (if there's such a thing) is quite soft, but this is something very different I guess? I hope also that the new price would make it more affordable for European customers. As now 1/2 of the price is added by shipping and VAT. |

I was reading up on hard anodizing process, and found this interesting quote: "Aluminum processed by hard anodizing can be only a few points away from the hardness of diamonds." http://www.clhann.com/tricks-hardanodizing.htm Sounds like a well conceived hard anodized Stick would be lighter, cheaper to build, and potentially have even longer fret life than a traditional stick. Since nearly the entire process would be automated, this version of the instrument could be outsourced, with only final adjustment/inspection taking place at Stick Enterprises. While I have no real idea of how much could be saved on the cost, I see the potential for this instrument to be drastically cheaper than the traditional models. A $500 Stick? I doubt it, but if this comes down to around a grand, I think you could see the instruments popularity skyrocket. |

I thought I had read that the wood was only part of the prototype, and would likely be aluminium in the final product? |

I'm also waiting on a quote for an injection molding tool, possibly to make the headstock out of glass filled polycarbonate." It still seems like (from my reading of this paragraph) that it may be cut from aluminum as well, but it still will be bolt on....it's the bolt-on part that I don't get, not whatever material it will eventually be made of... Why not just machine cut the whole thing? Just curious! Randy |

By doing a bolt on neck, my guess is the machining is easier, thus lower cost. I'm down with that. |

My guess is to use as little material as possible: to obtain neck and headstock in one piece, the plate would have to be a lot thicker than with to separate pieces, a lot of aluminum would be wasted in the process. |
