I'm assuming you mean "14th to the 24th fret"....

Without seeing your instrument it's hard for me to get what you're saying. You really should take a photo of the bridge screws and post it, then I could tell you if the screws look like they are too low or too high. Since people often don't follow the directions about truss adjustment, when you buy a second hand Stick the setup can often be completely wrong, and based more on "guitar" setup concepts.

Please post a photo that show the screws from the butt end of the instrument, and that also shows the top of the instrument.

Then I should be able to help you solve your issue.

I will say, though, it seems to play beautifully in the first half of the neck. I was even jamming out on some old Duran Duran "Rio".

To rowka, my setup log says your laminated shedua Stick was made on 10/5/02 and sent to a customer named Murray. Sometimes, the khaki tan shedua hardwood (no longer used) was stubborn, even with the laminate structure where the law of averages supposedly come into play. So the neck of your Stick could conceivably have developed a slipped disk somewhere around the 14th vertebra - back to the chiropractor?

I'd re-dress the Rail tips lower and on a flat plane with a little extra "relief" under the low bass strings at the low to mid frets. Then I'd "crown" the shaved tips round again for a uniform playing surface of collective Rails. By now the hardwood (yours has turned a warmer color) must have "settled" and my fret dressing and setup should have a long life.

You may live or die for DIY, but I'll bet you wouldn't cut your own diamonds (or perform auto-surgery?). These words are a bit "loaded" I know, but I'm just kidding to exaggerate the point. I appreciate your DIY spirit of course (have been there a few times myself) but I also see the value of specialization.

- The Rails never come loose and we use the toughest epoxy.
- I create no bass relief at the higher pitched Rails.

Thank you for chiming in. If I could have proven to myself that it was just a high fret (as I originally hypothesized) I would have attempted a repair myself. I’m now convinced that is not the case and it will require skill far greater than I can fake.

I’m going to call you shortly (probably tonight) and make arrangements to send it to you. Then, when you’ve given it an inspection, we can discuss what needs to be done.

Thanks for taking the pics. The bridge doesn't look unusually high. I wanted to see this in case you had the bridge cranked way up and the truss too tight, which could create the kind of scenario you are talking about as far as the behavior of the notes as you play them (though it wouldn't explain what you showed in your diagram
