New Grand 10-string is finished!!!
Hey folks, Looks like my new beauty is complete and all I have to do is organise payment and get it shipped! Graphite Grand 10, serial #5444, copper linears, PASV-4, heavy gauge DMR tuning. A huge thanks to Emmett and Yuta for advice and opinions along the way and especially to Emmett for getting it finished a month earlier than expected. I haven't even see it yet, but I know it will be a magnificient instrument and worth every penny! Happy New Year to all! Cheers, Justin

Re: New Grand 10-string is finished!!!
You're such a gear slut but I'm very happy 4 U Nitsuj.
I'm having a lot of fun moving around my Graphite, though I have had some pain in my left hand & am concerned about carpal tunnel. I did however have a little problem doing push ups b4 this problem settled in.
I've been paying attention to the technique of the masters & trying to move more freely & with what feels best. Any pointers, from anyone? K-Rad

Just got diagnosed w/ carpal tunnel. Of course they advise surgery...but I haven't seen the nuerologist again and will check out ALL alternatives...I have more important work to be done (total hip replacement #2)...It's also why I'm getting stick #2 w/DBR-at least I'll have a fighting chance to get SOME of my fingers to play a bass line. The Chapman Stick an Instrument for the Handicapped!
Marty, Work in Progress
P.S. That means mine is soon to follow!

Re: New Grand 10-string is finished!!!
I just got the call today myself for my long awaited #5661 - 12-String Grand Light Bamboo with Jade linear fret markings, Pas4 & StickUp (shipped setup w/ Pas4), locking tuners & Light Gauge strings in the Classic tuning.
I checked the tracking number just now and it is truly on it's way! Funny thing is I am flying to Hawaii on Monday for a 7-day leadership cruise among the islands and probably won't even get to see it until my return. I know I'll have trouble getting pity from any of you on that one, but man am I ever going to have the itch to get home to play it. It is probably best or I'd be tempted to bring my new one with me.
I have had this Stick on order since Nov. 29th of 2006 and it's arrival is greatly anticipated. That is probably why I am up so late after having a less than adequate night's sleep last night with a seemingly non-stop string of tornado's last night from 6pm-3:30am and a day full of clean-up and helping a neighbor relieve their home of the extra burden of a huge tree on and partly through their house.
It was amazing to me that my huge 12'x4' Ron Paul sign facing the highway (attached to my roof) survived when 4 big sturdy tree's, a highway sign with 3 - 1 ft wide steel beams, lots of limbs, and the kid's trampoline all got ripped apart. It made for a memorable 24 hours for the Abbott children.
We were all very fortunate because some in our area got hit very hard to the degree that a few folks didn't live though it. January's have been quite interesting for those of us in Springfield, MO that last two years.
Perhaps I'll now employ my old childhood trick. Time goes faster when your sleeping.
Good night,
Sunda B. Snuzen
P.S. I guess this thread is evidence of at least two spared kittens.

Arrived this morning after a trek across the Atlantic. 12 String Light Bamboo and Jade Linear markers, black tuners, PASV4, MR in medium. Distressingly I'm away for the next few days, so I've got about 3 hours to get to know it a bit better!

Re: New Grand 10-string is finished!!!
Justin, Did you decide to switch to 10 string grand b/c you felt the spacing was too tight on traditional 10 string?
Let us know how you like it; I'm considering this type of switch myself but am concerned that the instrument might feel slightly unwieldy compared to regular stick. (I happen to like the extra spacing on the SB8 overall).
Congrats on what is sure to be a sweet stick, Charles

Hi Charles, Yes, I ultimately decided on the Grand 10 to get the wider spacing and ability to use a few more "bass" techniques on the Stick. I've recently started playing bass gigs again a lot more and started to find the 10-string a bit cramped, so it made sense to make the change. I have a few bass & Stick projects on the go, so will be regularly swapping instruments between songs, so I think it will work out better for me. With any luck, the PASV-4 might be able to fulfill the bass role a little better than my old ACTV-2, so I might be able to reduce swapping a bit too. Will be able to do a full report in a week or so when my new baby arrives, it left S.E yesterday, but still has a short trip to Sydney and a day or two in Australian Customs before it's allowed to "enter the building". Cheers, Justin
