Post Red Railboard® with linear inlays...
Hi everyone,

I posted a series of pics of the red Railboard with linear inlays in the HotShots gallery:

The trench for the linear inlays, which in this case is gold foil tape are machined before the anodizing, so the color under the inlay is the same as the rest, not exposed aluminum.

For 8 more images of this instrument see:

I must say, I prefer the frets like this without the sandblasted texture, and the back of the instrument is very smooth.

When I look at the Railboard, it looks like a precision tool. Amazing instrument, Emmett!

I think it looks better this way too. Rare happenings that a less labor intensive process looks better! Adds to the simple motif of the Stick

Question after looking at the close up of the frets with the linear inlays:

How do you tap on top of the frets with the linear inlay cut into the fret?

Maybe a optical illusion on my part or misunderstanding..? thanks :)

Add two more strings, make it black, and I'll order one to pair with my "Limited edition sandblasted railboard! (Only 25 made!!)"

I think you're seeing something thats not there. the inlay is lower than the actual fingerboard itself. If you're pushing the string into the inlay, you're pressing too hard lol

Are the bends smoother and less noisy without the sandblasted texture on the frets?

Regards.

I change my mind. Those inlays are cool. Really dig the close ups.

Hi Keith, the "lip" around the inlay is below the fret plane. I don't feel it at all when playing.

These inlays are subtle, but I like them better than the dots, as they provide much more information...
