Post Emmett's handle
OK, here's a light one to start the day. :)

For those of us with online handles that aren't forms of their actual name, there's usually a meaning or story behind them. Sometimes it's fairly obvious, and sometimes there's a personal history that isn't so apparent.

Emmet's login is BSharp. I'd always interpreted it as one (slightly obscure) way of denoting "C", as in "Chapman".

Then Gene just posted this on another thread:
Quote:
Hi Steven, hopefully we can get bSharp to chime in on that.

This way of reading it is basically "flat sharp", which is in its own way a light-hearted potential handle for a musician.

Forget about mundane issues such as anodized colors, string gages, truss rod adjustments, and GAS...I want to know something TRULY important:

Which is the real intended meaning of Emmett's handle?

Great question. Or topic, I don't remember if it was in the form of a question or not.

I always assumed "BSharp" was a reminder to always do our best. Like be excellent or be alert or be on your toes.

I guess no matter what the true story is, each time I see BSharp I will take time to examine how I am applying myself to Emmett's creation.

Mike

PS. Not to make it sound like a religion or something. ;)

My guess is that it has multiple meanings. The C could also denote the lowest note in the Classic tuning.
Or it could simply be a pun that Emmett likes. The "Be Sharps" was the name of the barbershop quartet that Homer Simpson was part of, after all. (The kind of name that's funny at first and then gets less and less funny as time goes on.)

I always see it and think of the 5th season episode of The Simpsons where Homer, principal Skinner, Barney, and Apu were in a Grammy winning barber shop quartet called "The Be Sharps."

George Harrison was in that episode!

EDIT: Luc you beat me to it you speedy bastard!

I second Gene's sentiment above. This is still making me smile.
