The SG12 is approx. a year old. I'm the 2nd owner, but I think these are original strings.

Like kev told you...I would change my strings first. I don't know if you have light gauge but on my side I prefer medium gauge. If you have a good luthier close to your place I'm almost sure he would be very thankful to you to see your instrument first and then give you a good advice about it. Then you have to choose between this luthier or send it back to SE.

I did change the strings and it made a huge difference. Intonation is great and the tone really sings out.

Thanks for all advice on this.

Randy

Glad it worked out. Emmett's setups are excellent, but old strings are definitely a problem for intonation.

See you in Pittsburgh?

so why change strings more than once a year? (I know, guys, that's sacrilege.)

I leave them on way to long. If anyone would look up my purchase records of strings as SE, they'd think I gave up playing (I haven't ... really )
