Re: Info about a light Bamboo Grand
Does anyone know where to buy Watco Danish Oil in the EU. I have been searching the net, but could only find Rustin Danisch Oil. Funny thing is that, when I google on Watco and go to the site and indeed find Watco Danisch oil, the site is called Rust-oleum, pretty similar to Rustin !
Cheers, Bas.

Should be the same stuff, Bas. Or very similar. Watco is just a brand. Danish oil isn't proprietary stuff, just a blend of different finishing oils.

For the record, it was legendary Motown electric bass player James Jamerson that discovered the secret that never cleaning your instrument makes it sound funky. Jamerson wanted the very best, so he never even changed strings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Jamerson

Never cleaning your stick may not make it sound more funky, but I should make it feel more funky,

On my side (I wrote it in another thread) I like to treat my instrument with baby's oïl. It's good for the wood...just a bit of this light oïl and then I spread it with my hand all over the neck. I dry it well with a cloth after one minute. I do it for many years on my guitars and me cello. Once it's done you have a superb feeling, your fingers skate on your instrument.

Danish Oil doesn't smell very good to me. Sometimes I add beeswax on top of the Danish Oil treated surface. Beeswax doesn't get sucked into the wood, like oil does, but it smells lovely and adds a splendid sheen to the looks.

Re: Info about a light Bamboo Grand
There are a lot of products called "Watco" Emmett uses the Danish Oil. It is not a cleaner. Here are the details. http://www.rustoleum.com/~/media/Digita ... RAC05.ashxSo as long as it hasn't worn off or you are not repairing a ding or break in the finish, you probably don't need it. After reading about this, now I have a better understanding of this stuff and why nothing you put on top of this is going to soak into the wood. Sounds to me that any cleaning material that is strong enough to remove the dirt/oil that comes from your hands but not remove the Danish Oil would be fine if all you need is a cleaning.
