Post Metallic ring/buzz mid-range in pitch after a note sounds
I've got my 10-string maple's setup dialed in great. Action is low, strings ring out from low to high. It really is playing well.

Only issue is I sometimes get a metallic ring/buzz mid-range in pitch after a note has sounded. I say ring/buzz because the sound combines the two.

It's not the same as when a low bass string will buzz. This sound occurs a half second or less after a note is sounded. This seems to occur on notes played from both the bass and melody side, but is always in the same frequency range.

Any idea what this may be and how I can stop it?

Are either of your truss nuts just spinning freely?.

Is the ringing evident when you play unamplified...

It is! I have pretty much the same thing - I strike a note, it sounds for a while, then the BUZZ kicks in, then the buzz fades, then the note fades.
Both amplified and not. But that thing, I think is not a huge problem.
Personally I cant balance my melody side - it buzzes horribly all along three thick strings on the melody side up to 12 fret and some time beyond.

you didn't say whether there was any tension on the truss not or it was "spinning free"

also, if you damp the string between the point of contact and the nut, does the buzzing go away.

If the sring is fully damped before the point of contact - the buzz goes away along with all the other harmonics and pre-sounds.

I think there is some thension on the truss, cz it's spinning, but with a bit of force.

This sounds to me like the top nut is too tight (the one behind the headstock), which makes the strings lay down on the frets between the X-fret and the fret you are tapping.. Try loosening it up a little and then tightening the lower nut to compensate for the higher string action
