Is this Giancarlo?
Hi, everyone. This appears to be Giancarlo, he's not identified. I don't know of anyone else who wears hats, holds his Stick at that angle, and plays like that. He's the one I always point to when people ask if the Stick can rock. Direct Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZdL66HI8Tg-Eric

I first found it many years ago when I was just starting on Stick. He's great. But, he hasn't put anything up on YT in a while and I am looking for some confirmation that it's really him. Sure seems like it, though. If true then it seems pretty recent. -Eric

Oh yeah, that's the man. Love Gian Carlo, but his domain has expired and the matchstickband.com site needs some updates big time. You can find him on Facebook for sure! He's gigging out and keeping busy.

Re: Is this Giancarlo?
He's using 2 different sticks but as you said he's wearing the same hat and if you look carefully he has also the same beard. He's playing the stick with the same "angle" (position), the same style of music. Or...it's a "clone"...

Re: Is this Giancarlo?
It also work perfectly on my side and the key word on YT is not Giancarlo like I tried but "thematchsticks"...this way you reach directly his YT channel.

Re: Is this Giancarlo?
It's all there, just some weird forwarding that was not resolving. The site isn't mobile friendly, I'm going to hit him up about that.

Re: Is this Giancarlo?
It's interesting that he plays bass left handed and Stick right handed. I know there's lots to do with both hands on Stick but still it seems like an odd way to go if you played guitar or bass first and you had always played left handed. I really like what he's doing and the fact he's a pretty good singer and fronts the band too. He's really up to the power duo band role he's carved out and can hang like a side of beef - with absolutely no flies on it. You can tell he didn't come out of that King Crimson clone culture but more of a blues rock thing and these two sound like a strong Texas blues rock trio. If I'd have picked up Stick about 25 or 30 years ago I probably would have attempted a style and a band role something like this guy. I can imagine having a bad night though with just you and drums and there's absolutely nowhere to hide...

I'm left-handed and I feel that the usual playing position of the Stick IS left-handed. I think it's weird that all of you right-handers are playing it backwards. It also matches a piano, where the right hand mostly plays in the higher register. I played piano as a kid and the second I picked up the Stick it felt completely natural. I hear you about nowhere to hide. I played in bands for a long time but the idea of playing solo was terrifying. I'm getting over that but it has taken several years. Giancarlo is great and I'm not sure there're many who can do what he's doing. -Eric
