Could there ever be a UK Stick event?
As a UK based newbie Stickist, I have to say I do find myself looking at the US and Canada (and Japanese) based Stick events with a fair degree of envy. They all sound like brilliant learning and sharing experiences. Have there ever been any UK events of a similar nature? Indeed, are there many UK Stick players in general? I feel a bit isolated over 'ere sometimes!

Hello, I know there was some events around London (with Jim Lampi, or at Ian Rogerson's house). You should check this FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ukstick/?ref=ts&fref=ts

Well I can tell you this. I don't even think I'd had my first Stick for a year yet and for various reasons, I had to miss two seminars that were going on that year (Toronto and Charlottesville). If a fit of frustration (and through a little prodding from Steve Osburn), the solution was simple. Bring them to me The short version of this answer is ... organize one. The first one I put together had one teacher (Greg Howard). Now we've hosted somewhere in the neighborhood of a dozen. You have Jim Lampi over in the UK who is a first rate teacher. You just need a space to have it and maybe a space to have a gig (although that's not a must). I'd be happy to give you tips on getting it together and I'm reasonably certain that the other folks here (Gene, Dave, Brett) would likely do the same.

+1 to what Glenn said. Robert Thorpe was over here and might be able to share what he saw at the FHA, but you could also speak directly with cats like Glenn or Jim Meyer who have been leading successful seminars for over a decade (heroes). I don't think it would take much to get Brett Bottomley out there as I believe he makes an annual trip to the UK. That coupled with Lampi and you are good to go. And Greg, well, you'll be hard pressed to Greg to STOP talking about the Stick.

Jem, I've been looking on with a fair degree of envy over the last couple of weeks (due in part to Luc's wonderful collection of photos).
It would be great to have some kind of Stick event over here - even something in mainland Europe would be cool (still looking for a reason to go on the Eurostar).
Count me in!

I have been planning a discussion with Yannick, Youenn, Atreio, Francisco and Guillermo about an FHA related event in Europe in 2015 so everyone is aware.
Details on that on Thursday.

Details on that on Thursday. Nice if Jim Lampi and/or pascal Glanville could join the discussion!

Re: Could there ever be a UK Stick event?
That was at my house! It was late 1990s. I was having lessons with Jim Lampi and he brought his Stick Bass he was experimenting with. We all had a great time in my lounge. I seem to remember there were about six of us in total. My girlfriend at that time is now my wife and we have 3 kids. The only downside to all the intervening years is that I'm Stickless. But I Keep lurking around the stickist forum. Steve
