Now in Maine: A Stick HOUSEHOLD
My Stick Brothers and Sisters: Today is a wonderful day in the Bergeron household. We have placed the order for Jen's very own Stick. Who'd have thought that going to the FHA with me would have sparked such an appreciation and interest from her for the instrument, its history, and the people involved in making - and making music with - the Stick and its variants? I must confess, I did not. Credit must be given to two fabulous women: Dale Ladouceur and Robin Shima Costin. From them, Jen was able to see first-hand that the Stick isn't just a "guy thing", and came away thinking: "Hey, I think maybe I can do this!" Here are the details that I know so many of you will ask for: 10-string, Dark Bamboo, Stickup, Turquoise Recon Stone linear inlays, open gear black & chrome tuners, Raised Matched Reciprocal tuning, light gauge strings (both are Emmett's recommendation; should help with getting lower action while retaining depth and warmth). It'll end up looking like one of David Tipton's Sticks (his Grand Dark Bamboo): Attachment: Bamboo with turquoise.jpg Happy, happy day!

Re: Now in Maine: A Stick HOUSEHOLD
You may be the first Stick couple! I am not aware of any others, anyone?
I am thinking you would be a great candidate (candidates!) for NE November on Free Hands Friday coming up. Are you around on Friday, Novmeber 21st or after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 28?

You're too funny! I just told Jen about it, and she happens to have the Friday after Thanksgiving off, so it could be possible. I'll give her some more details; I don't want to volunteer her without some warning. Then again, she does that kind of thing to me all the time...

Joe and Debi Viau (husband and wife) from Cranston, RI attended Interlochen together in 2013.
Gary and Jocelyn Garner (father and daughter) attended two or three Ann Arbor events. When we closed one of the streets in Ann Arbor for the big outdoor concert in 2006, the two of them performed along with Gary's wife on French horn and another daughter on drums.

Rats. Well, you are in an elite force of couples Stick players - so there's that! Either way, Northeast November beckons - so you can expect we are going to be hitting you up about Friday, November 28!
Either way, congratulations.

Congratulations to the Sticky couple!
I hope that in the future, women will have no need to be convinced something is not a "guy thing" before they try it.
