Any photos available of Maple Sticks?
Found out a couple of days ago that bamboo is not going to be the right choice (due to a special mod we're requesting) for my wife's Stick. So, we have to consider other materials. We're considering Ash and Tarara, but we were also told that Maple would work. But, it's tough to choose it if there are no visuals. Who can help a Stick brother (and future Stick sister) out? Thanks, guys!

Re: Any photos available of Maple Sticks?
That photo looks too yellow to be maple. Most maple is usually fairly blonde without much color or figuring.
Did you get to play Andy's green-dyed ash Stick at FHA 2014? I was amazed how light it was! Looking at the ash photos on Stick.com, I'd say ash is the way to go for a light-coloured, non-bamboo, Stick. Much lighter than maple (weight), and more interesting to look at (more grain and figuring).
Those be my thoughts.

I was going to suggest looking at any older pics of Bob Culbertson but unfortunately that only shows you what maple looks like after the grime of playing eight hours a day, seven days a week, for several years Seriously though ... it looks like there are several pics in the player's gallery at http://www.stick.com/artists/playersgalleryI've always loved the look. I don't know much about the properties of the wood itself.

I've got a Maple 10 String with Actv-2, and it's For Sale! I haven't listed it anywhere because I really like it, unfortunately I can't justify owning 2 Sticks. How did I manage to post 2 of the same pic? It's number 1579 which belonged to Claude Lacelle (Sticky Frog) and Jim Storm before I got it.

Re: Any photos available of Maple Sticks?
Ah, Flyn, too bad it's got pearl dot inlays (Jen wants linear turquoise) and an ACTV-2 (she wants a Stickup). Thanks for posting, though. The photo is very helpful. Thanks to everyone else for chiming in, too. Marty, I know what you mean about the yellowish hue. That Stick is described as a maple on that web page. Could be bad lighting, or maybe the digital camera that took the photo (or the editing software) increased the yellow in an attempt to balance out the color because of that intense purple background.

Luc,
Now I'm curios. What is the "special mod" that can't be supported by a bamboo instrument.

Re: Any photos available of Maple Sticks?
I believe Steve A.'s main Stick is maple. Maple and ash are two of my favorite hardwoods, so it would be hard to have to choose between them.
The weight factor of my ash Stick is a big plus to me and definitely something to consider. Ash also has that "wabi-sabi" going for it in that the grain patterns are much more random compared to that of maple. But then maple also has that potential to have flames, quilts, and bird's eyes. Decisions, Decisions!
