New Stick Day!
There will not be an unboxing video. UPS delivered too late in the date for me to have good light, but that was the least of my problems: my energy levels were ridiculously low, my coordination was almost nonexistent, and I was in a lot of pain (actually, all of that may as well be in the present tense). I wound up having to take crappy pictures with my cell phone, which turned out better than they might have. This is a great day, but it is not a good time. Before I get to the pictures, I have some people to thank: - Emmett, Yuta, Cambria, and everyone else at Stick Enterprises: for inspiration, patience, cooperation, a fantastic instrument, and the extra goodies (see below).
- Dave Brosky: for building a Holder for me.
- Jonathan Korn: for sending me his spare copy of The Stick Book.
- Luc and Jen Bergeron: for buying me a copy of Greg's tuition DVD; I was going to use it to set up my belt hook and Lap Dawg (sorry Dave, I am afraid I cannot presently make good use of the Holder), but my tiredness requires that I wait for Greg's direct assistance tomorrow.
Picture Time!

(Whistle sound)
I'm getting all hot and bothered by these Stick shots.
Parallel Galxeys is such a great album, what a treat!

Re: New Stick Day!
Congrats, she's a beauty! And you'll enjoy those Cd's/DVDs too. I was watching Stick night 99 just the other day. My personal favorite is Larry Tuttle, what a way to open a show! (Not that the other players are slouches, they are ALL great!) And Emmitt's CD is also inspiring. I especially like what he did with Lotus on Irish spring. (I think that's the title of the tune, the old John M. tune)
Anyway hope you feel better and really enjoy your new Stick! (Makes me want to buy another!)

Re: New Stick Day!
Thanks, folks. I am about to get some sleep, but I may as well write this here in case I forget: my first test with running the Railboard into my DAW, active mode with a virtual channel strip preset on each side ("Electric Bass 1" and "Jazz Guitar"), made my desktop speakers fart hard when I hit the lower bass strings hard. That can be fixed with better gain staging, but it also shows that I cannot use my computer speakers for Stick practice without a better crossover and/or a more powerful amp (this is a 15W cheapie...long story). I will tweak the gain staging tomorrow before Greg arrives, but I will certainly use headphones on my own time.
