Unfortunately, I can't say I'm shocked. We might have killed Bin Laden, but he won, anyway. Look at how afraid and paranoid we've become ... even (and especially) toward our own. The American face now kinda looks more like and than ever before.
Too bad no one's going to write a country song about their nostalgia about pre-911 paranoia...but I guess that would be unpatriotic.

I remember hearing that there are a few of these around the world.
One in Yorkshie UK of all places. Every phone call, every google search, everything is being "collected".

Hell, every country does it now.....

One time I was even at a meditation retreat on top of a remote mountain in Rajasthan. We were being infiltrated, periodically by the Chinese. I was given a brief 3 question answer to set them straight, not that I ever encountered any infiltratees. Needless to say this was a simple, direct and effectively polite way of sending them on their way. God, I've never had to deal with any major breach of my privacy, so I can't imagine how someone in a war zone might feel, or legal battle, anything like that....

"Isn't it a pity" like dear old George said, that we cause eat other pain. It seems at the point of real global change, we have to face the extremes in order to make "the jump".

For me the question is not whether or not the information is being collected. Certainly it is. The question is how much effort is being spent collating and analyzing this information? What percentage of Americans have comprehensive profiles in the Federal database? Apparently even Congress is not allowed to know.
