Post Very off topic but I'm feeling like a proud (psuedo) dad!
A few of you that know me know that I'm kind of a die-hard hockey fan. We have a local team in Plymouth, MI who are part of the Canadian Hockey League. The players in this league are made up of 16-21 year olds and it is, by far, the biggest feeder league for the NHL. My wife and I have been fans of the team for a long time but for the last two years we've also been billet parents (which means we provide a home for a player or players while they are here for their season).

We've had the same player living with us last year and this year. He's been a great guy and this was his last season of eligibility to play in this league due to his age. Last week their season ended on Tuesday evening. On Thursday morning, he was offerred a three year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes and will be reporting to their farm club at the end of the summer.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy either!

Congrats Glenn

The Ontario hockey league right?

My sons preschool best friend has been a top prospect for years, and has been in the Quebec hockey league the past 2. We are waiting to hear which NHL team will get him.

It's a really exciting time for these kids.

Brett

Congrats to you and the player!

I just started watching hockey this year. HD makes it far more pleasurable to watch than on an SD screen, "Where's the puck???" Let's forget the god awful blue streak that Fox sports tried for a year or two.

Thanks you guys!

@Brett ... yep ... that would be the OHL. Our local team are the Plymouth Whalers who were owned by the same owner and named after the old Hartford Whalers.

Our guy just turned 21 and was un-drafted. That meant this was his last year of eligibility and the un-drafted part made his future pretty uncertain until that call came.

Story is here if anyone wants to read more.

Hi Glenn.

My Dad used to play ice hockey over here in Melbourne, so I've had an interest in the sport for a while, at a distance...!

When you put others first, you automatically go ahead. Beautiful bro.
