Post Stolen 36" Rosewood Stick
So, here's a bit of a backstory...

My ex-brother-in-law was attending the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, studying guitar.

For his birthday one year, my ex-wife and I decided to let him have my Stick on "permanent loan" (she "bought the Stick from me for a Canon 7D), so he could be the "cool kid with a Stick" in school. I wasn't playing very much at the time, so it seemed like a good idea.

Well, a few twists and turns aside, he graduated, the ex and I split up, and I never really thought about getting the Stick back, because I thought he was playing it.

Turns out...He wasn't. A couple of months ago, my ex informed me that she found out that he pawned my Stick for drug money (he was really into Coke and Heroin). She was more upset about it than I was.

Anyway, just for fun...If anyone sees a 36" Rosewood 10-string Stick with ACTV-2 pickups with the registration # 4827, please let me know. I tried to file a police report, however since there is no official documentation that I let him have the Stick on loan, there wasn't much they could do.

Also, I don't know if he pawned it in CA or in Kingman, AZ (where he is currently living).

My ex is doing a bit more research for me as well, since she still lives in Vegas.

Zak,
The cops will do the least passive course they can do. Your testimony alone and maybe a pic of the Stick with you holding it is enough for them to go on. Critical to your testimony is that at some point ( your split with the ex date?) you no longer gave him permission to have it. Hopefully when you demanded it you said that in so many words.

Life isn't so exact to have contracts and video with the latest USA today pictured behind you to verify the date. The late Robin Williams one time said "dating today is so complex, saying "i love you, but first give me a blood and urine sample"! :D

My advice is to check pawn shops within driving distance where he lived. If he shows up on "Pawn Stars" and says " This is the ONLY one Emmett ever made and quit playing after he made it" WE GOT HIM.

I never like to hear stories of stolen equipment, how can these people sleep at night.

You mentioned heroin in the equation. I recently finished my autographed copy of "Three Dog Nightmare" by Chuck Negon (Three Dog Night founder and key singer) which brutally throws you through heroin addiction and its ruination of all around you. This was a very tough read but a worthwhile read. http://www.amazon.com/Three-Dog-Nightmare-Chuck-Negron/dp/1580630405 It doesn't forgive your ex brother in law, but will make you understand what he did and why he did it.

I hope you can recover it but at least it isn't a 'Les Paul Copy" yes officers that's all I can give you….
take care, and revisit this with the cops.this time with a photo of your self with the Stick. hopefully you will have the original sales receipt or SE can help you with the serial number.

Thanks Dave! Appreciate it!

I have the serial number and I'm sure I can dig up the original receipt (or at least get a copy from SE). I also have plenty of pics with me holding it too.

It's hard to check the pawn shops in the area when you live 2,500 miles but, like I said, I've got the ex working on it (thankfully our friendship meant more to the both of us than all the issues we had when we were married).

Strangely enough...I think I found it.

http://www.stickist.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 5&start=13

According to my ex, 2011/2012 was right around the time her brother was having "financial problems" and that he actually sold the Stick back to SE.

Of course, I wouldn't dream of asking for it back. I'm just happy it ended up back at SE and at a good home!

However, if Daniel ever decides to sell it...I know one or two people that would love to buy it back! :D
