Dive in! Watch out for the rocks!
Coming from bass and wishing the rhythm guitarist would just "get in the groove" is where I'm coming from. And playing huge arpeggios across the board and everything else this beautiful Emmett creation brings to me.
Once you "get" the tapping feeling, it's Free Hands.
Disclaimer: old man having fun every day with the Stick. Music not for the squeamish.

yes I have the self colour inlays. All the inlays are the same.
This may have been a mistake on my part. I wanted restrained, but not as restrained as it is. I'm sure I'll get use to it, and I probably could add something if it really bothers me.

Tape inlays can be added easily.

I know a Railboard user who found even the coloured linear inlays he'd ordered weren't obvious enough on stage, so he added tape & is now a very happy Railboard player.

Note recognition is very logical because of the five fret dot markers and symmetrical tuning
It is a weak spot that I see in most student's learning process, but can be refined with an understanding of Emmett's ingenious layout concepts.
And yes, jazz can be played well on The Stick.
My advice is to not think of it as a strange concept. Emulate Wes, Django and Metheny while thinking Ron Carter, Ray Brown and Mingus. Will take a while but can be done and validated by your peers. The goal to me is to go beyond the "novelty" attitude and play to a high standard of music.
