Greetings from Colorado, USA!

Well, I had to wait 2 years and 2 months, but my Railboard (purple) finally arrived.

As a long time bassist and (jazz) guitarist I know I've got my work cut out for me. My guitar and bass technique may not cross over, but my knowledge of theory will, as will - I hope - the many things I've learned - the hard way - about what it means to learn an instrument.

I suspect that the key will be accepting the Stick on its own terms.

And now the journey begins!

I am certainly no expert, but I think there is a process of struggle and eventual letting go of the notion that it's another kind of guitar.
easier said than done (we tell ourselves we're open to it, but we cling oh how we cling...like a Harlow's monkey to the carpet mama) I find that to be part of the challenge!

I suck very very badly, but I like it to keep my aging brain doing something new.
and I enjoy the people
It's enrichment for me..if ppl ask if I'm a musician I have to honestly answer "used to be"

(Oh, former Boulderite/ Nedervillian here...what part of CO you hail from?)

Congratulations. :D

So that's a September 2021 order, or was it August (we are only just in November)?

August 30, 2021.

It was my reward when the sale of our house in Seattle sold.

Does it have 'self colour' linear inlays?

The top inlay looks different on the pic, but maybe that's just a reflection?

Have fun with your new toy...that's the main point. And your stick is very nice...you had to wait for more than 2 years...wow...congratulations.

My repertoire is varied from Zep, Beck and Beatles to Metheneny, Crimson and Zappa. Beneath it all I strive for a Wes Montgomery meets Ron Carter flavor. It can be done.
Enjoy the adventure

Hi All!

Thanks for the greetings!

In response to:

Begin Again - I'm located in Palmer Lake about 45 miles south of Denver. It's been a great change from Seattle.

Although I'm a diver, I never dove the Sound. Doesn't meet the "beer test" i.e. after a dive I want a cold beer, not a cup of hot coffee :D

DavidWS - yes I have the self colour inlays. All the inlays are the same.
This may have been a mistake on my part. I wanted restrained, but not as restrained as it is. I'm sure I'll get use to it, and I probably could add something if it really bothers me.

I've already discovered that - with respect to guitar and bass - how reliant I am on my knowledge of the fretboard. I know where the notes are.

That's not so with the Stick and is a one of the things I am focusing on.

Brett - thanks for the invite. Regrettably I decided a few years ago that Facebook wasn't for me.

- steve
