FIFTEEN MONTHS! Image

Can you bring your Stick?

:?:

I was thinking about it. Not quite sure how to work out the logistics of something like that and not sure I'll have time to play it when I'm over there as much as I'd like.

William,

I hope you have a way to keep in touch with music and with us while away. If you deal with things with the same spirit you've shown here, I think people will leave you alone! You're not leaving until August, are you going to finish your recording before you go (I was checking out your tweets) ?

Actually, Greg, I'm leaving in May. I will be Boots On Ground (BOG) in Afghanistan by August.

I have to go through pre-mobilization training first and that's 110 days of weapons qualifications and everything else I'm going to need to know by the time I get there.

So, sadly, no...I won't be able to finish the album. I have thirteen songs I'm working on and I've only managed to come up with two - and those are just demos for the other other musicians I'm going to bring in to help me put it all together.

I'll resume it when I get back after July 30, 2011.

And, yes, I'll have Internet access when I get there. I'm going to be in charge of maintaining it. :ugeek:

William, Once your over there, will we be able to send you some home comforts??? Like chips, candybars, etc, etc. I'm sure most of us don't know whats readily available and whats scarce,or what were allowed to send you. If it's possible, give us a list and somewhere we can send a care package to. Anything that will help you get through those 15 months, let us know.

That's very kind of you, NYS. Oh yes...just so long as it isn't booze or porn you can pretty much send me anything.

As soon as I get an APO address, I'll post it here.

Movies are good (and can be traded), books and magazines, underwear & socks (you can never have enough clean skivvies), and perishable items like food are always nice to have.

I don't know about candy bars. They might melt in that desert heat so use some precaution.

Oh...and music. Music is always nice to have. Can't have enough music. ;)
