Post Hello
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I've been a musician my entire life, first on drums, then piano, then guitar and bass (I'm sure that's a familiar story around here). I'm hoping to add stick to the list fairly soon, and I've found a great wealth of information here on the board, and it's great to know that folks from SE chime in from time to time (including Greg and BSharp!)

The first time I heard the stick was in 1995 when I discovered King Crimson and Tony Levin (I was in jr. high at the time). It's only since the popularity of youtube that I've had a chance to see the stick being used outside of the bass range! I was really surprised, but then it made sense why Tony's instrument had 10 (I guess now it's 12) strings.

Although I'm a big fan of all styles of music (Electronica/Synthpop/Jazz/Classical), most of what I've been up to in the last few years can be best described as powerpop.

I've got lots of questions, but for now I just thought I'd say hello.
-Steven

Hi Steven - welcome! You'll find a good group of folks connected to the Stick. You can also find used instruments posted here. I believe there's one right now. Just look in the classifieds.
You'll be right at home on the Stick with all of that experience on those instruments you mentioned. Post often - let us know what you're up to.

Greg's more than 1600 posts make him the top poster here and an incredible source of information / advice, so 'chime in from time to time' is an understatement ;)

Cheers, Daniel.

"Incredible" is the right word, I'll leave the context up to you ;) As the forum has gotten more active my percentage of the total traffic has steadily declined, though, so I feel a little less conspicuous these days.

Just doing what I can to keep the information flow about The Stick accurate and useful. Looking around online, I don't think you'll find a community that's more respectful of its members or more helpful in its demeanor.

A big nod to Manny, who, in providing this resource, is a great friend to Stick players everywhere. Also, a big thanks to all of you who have contributed your wisdom, opinions and patronage to keep it going and growing. And...a big welcome to you, Steven!

Yeah, I guess with over 1600 posts "time to time" is a bit of an undersell. I stand corrected!

I will stand by my original statement though, that this board is a wonderful resource and I'm learning new things all the time! Thanks for saying 'hi.'
