Hello, stickists of the world!
I'm Maynard, an acolyte of sorts, who hopes to get his college-poor hands on a stick sometime before the end of the world, Dec. 21, 2012
. I've always enjoyed music, with a strong lean towards the polyphony of the Renaissance and Baroque. I've been teaching myself piano for a few months, as there are about five pianos no farther away from than three hundred feet. I've played guitar for a while, but I've had difficulties with ergonomics because of some confounding failure of spatial awareness abilities which jeopardize my every attempt to hold even a basic Stratocaster correctly, and thus I have searched for alternate guitar constructions and designs which would enable me to make it (music) without breaking it (wrist, shoulder, or otherwise). In the course of research, I discovered the Chapman Stick and was instantly taken by its simplicity and sonority. Now, I have a school-boy crush on the thing even though getting one is financially unjustifiable.
Even in light of that obstacle, I've been absorbing stick music incessantly and I have been pleased by most everything I've had the joy of hearing. Keep up the amazing work, everyone - the music is simply beautiful.
Thanks,
Maynard
