Post Hi from Vancover
Hi Guys :)

I figured i'd throw a quick post up here just to introduce myself. I'm a bass player and soon to be proud Chapman stick owner! I put in my order for a new railboard in April so, the wait is on! I first laid eyes on a stick in 2004 when I seen Dream Theaters John Myung play one on their "Live at Budokon" DVD. I was really interested in the instrument and after many years of procrastinating I finally ordered one!

Thanks to a feature article on stick.com I was lucky enough to find the awesome Jim Meyer. I've had two lessons to date and ill be attending the Vancouver stick seminar in May which I'm really looking forward to!

I am currently living in Vancouver BC, since Dec 2014, on a working visa but I am from Ireland.

All the best,
Kevin

Kevin,
Welcome to the big family of Stickists! Glad you found Jim Meyer- Jim is one of the most knowledgeable, accomplished and funny Stickist around and a great teacher to boot!

You are in great hands- honestly Jim's hands are huge! ( not going there with the thumbs! :D )

This site, SE's site, and YouTube esp Bob Culbertson's and Greg's videos are a wealth of knowledge. You are living in a great age with all the DVD's, transcribed songbooks, Mel Bay Book and videos to help you learn new techniques and styles. In 1989, I just had Emmett's book which is still great and upon many re reads, I still find something new.

so welcome,
Dave Brosky "DBo"

Vancouver is truly one of the Stick capitals of the world, thanks in large part to the efforts of jim Meyer. there are personal connections for the Stick as well, as Emmett and Yuta spent their early years together there...

Looking forward to returning in a couple weeks, seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
