Post New Stickist from UK
Hi guys,

I've just had confirmation on my new railboard being completed!

I'm based in chesterfield, derbyshire and been a follower of the stick for roughly 15 years, always been intrigued, but i'm actually an accomplished Drummer so this is a big change! Always felt of a bit of an investment to dip my toe but after fighting with myself for all this time i've gone for it...

Hope it doesn't end in tears!

It'll take work, but it's an amazing instrument. Just don't try to rush things and stay active in the community and you'll do fine. Welcome to the community!

Thanks!

I plan to make it work (Promise to the Mrs!) and determined to do so!

I have ordered Greg's DVD and books and everything else i can get my hands on to keep me inspired.

Thanks,

Yeah, from what i've seen, there are definitely advantages. Just need to get the fingers working a bit more now.

I hope i don't end up in a rehearsal room with a drummer though. Man those guys are annoying when they set up!

Welcome! As Michael said, drummers seem to have an advantage when learning the Stick. You have been working on rhythmic independence between arms and legs for a long time. I was at a Stick workshop once with someone completely new to the Stick who was a pro hand percussionist. He took right off and we were all very impressed. (OK, a little jealous, too.) (OK, OK, a lot jealous!)

Lots of great drumming Stickists here, Luc, Michael, Konrad. I am certain I have missed a few.

They'll be tears of joy mostly. It's your drums that will miss you most. :D

I'm not a "great Stick player" (yet) ;) But my original instrument is drums so count me in the "came from drums" category.

Well that's a nice bit of reassurance!

Looks like there's a few of us from a "non musician" background!

Nice to meet you all proper guys... I've been lurking for a while.
