Post Hi
Hey everyone. I'm Rob and I've been interested in getting my hands on a Chapman Stick to try out and see if it is for me. I've been on Youtube watching various players and it so cool seeing many talented players. I play guitar so the transition should be a familiar one on a Chapman, yes? I would like to get my hands on one before I decide to purchase.

I live out in Riverside,Ca. so if anyone knows where I could see a Chapman in person let me know here. Thanks.

Well Rob, welcome. I would think someone out by you would be willing to meet with you and show you a Stick first hand. That said, the transition from guitar to Stick is not that similar. One thing all we who came to the Stick from bass or guitar had to eventually make peace with is our skills on the bass or guitar don't really translate to the Stick. The Stick is it's own unique instrument with it's own very unique methods. That said ... as long as you keep an open mind and are willing to work at it the Stick is a very rewarding instrument! Good luck and hopefully you'll soon count yourself among the relatively small group of Stick players in the world. Consider it a kind of small exclusive brotherhood! (Sisterhood too!)

If you're ever in the North East end of the San Fernando Valley, I'm in Sylmar right off the 210 near the intersection of the 5 and the 210. I'd be glad to explain the layout and let you take a test drive.

Dude, you are down the street. I am at the Temecula Arts Festival this Friday at 6pm. Also out at the Lorimar Winery every other weekend and Viva Vino in old town on Wednesday 6-8pm.

BRUTAL. That about sums up thousands of cars being squeezed into a single lane coming off the 91 on the 15 southbound. I waited 50 minutes to move 1.5 miles. If you are heading south, leave by 2 or forget it.

Of course, if you do make it down, we are going for beers :D
