It was my great pleasure to interview Gene Perry for the documentary on Wednesday night. Afterwards, we had a little fun, while the camera was still rolling.

Here's just the tail-end of it.

Thanks. You're very welcome!

The whole night was a blast. Gene started out by playiing some solo Bach and a classic Anita Baker tune. We explored many subjects. On a break from Gene's interview, we switched roles and he interviewed me as well. A little taste of my own medicine. ;) I tried that idea out once before at Stick Camp with Jim Meyer with strong results.

You will see all this eventually.

Thanks Gene.

Very cool Gene and Dan! Dan, I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I didn't know you were so musical. I suppose ignorance isn't always bliss :D .

Thanks. I love to play.
Our mom was very musical and artistic. She taught us how to play and make art too. She went to Chicago Art Institute. She was a performer. As a young woman, she crashed every club on Rush Street in Chicago. Walked in with her guitar and just started into her act. She had an act. It was kinda embarrassing to me as a kid, when she would go into it for my little friends. It was overpowering. They would be blown away. I would be humiliated.

She and Emmett were my early influences of all things artistic. She taught me not to be afraid to perform.

...and I can sing too! :) I write tunes. Here's one I wrote a while ago:

Thanks Rodrigo. That's a song called "Who's The Fool?" that I wrote about my mom. She taught me how to sing. She's the one who simply loved Amalia Rodrigues... probably her very favorite singer. Bravo Fado forever!!
