Can you give me some ideas about chords which are out of normal major and minor positions.

For example...how do you play a Xm7b5 in the left hand only. X being the root of course.

Or...X7b9...

With both hands it's ok but with only the left hand it's quite different.

Here are a couple of voiceings that I use a lot

I dont know how yo show so I will describle

minor 7 b5 root middle finger b5 1st finger next string b3 3rd finger next string then if you want a Vb9 just move your middle finger down to next lower string you get root, b9, b7

does this make any sense I cant draw on a computer sorry

Another -7b5 Vb9 voicing

root 8th string 1st finger
minor 3rd one fret up 10th string 2nd finger
b5 one fret up 12th string 3rd finger

do the same thin move the root down a string you get
Root 1st finger 7th string
b7 2nd finger 10th string
b9 3rd finger 12th string

Brett, the quick and nasty way is to draw out a fret block, mark on the fingerings and either take pic of it or scan it, then post.

That major/minor 7b5 grip is very comfy on the guitar and one that initially challenged me a lot when picking up the Stick. I use it a lot in STick music but not always as shapes/grips by one hand. Since the sound of the Stick is so balanced and huge you don't need to add much more than three or four notes to form a massive sounding chord. One of those chord forming notes may well come from the melody line and then you may leave out that note from the "chord grip". After this came to my mind I got so enthusiastic that I made it a habit to constantly look for an option to distribute the altering note to the melody line. Doing so is especially cool with these 7b5 babes where you can pull a string for glissando to hit the tritone note.

it's middle age in computer-technology, but it works...

...now I started using LOGIC PRO X months before, for this short time I'm not very adapted to this software, but it seems to me with this Program a lot of graphics are possible...

...I use apple computers and in general it's possible to convert output of every program to a pdf file, (using printer dialogue, option save as pdf)...
...this way you can use even a cheap drawing program...

I always thought it unnecessary to acomlomplish these sometimes acrobatic fingerings.
Chords are connected to the melodic or harmonic movement in the right hand. Within a phrase or progression, most often the entirety will suggest a chord or harmony without the finger stretching challenges.
Just an option....often more musically appealling

Well Steve is correct that you do not always need to spell out everything. In fact the bass 5th tuning makes many chords more difficult. But there are great rich, voicings out there and they are seldom discussed. I will see about getting a method of sharing some of these voicings.

I think I might write a jazz stick chord book when I retire, left and right hands.

I will try to take a picture of the -7b5 Dom7b9 voicings today.
