Post Free Hands Friday - DAVID TIPTON
The first Free Hands Friday, hosted by David Tipton, was well attended and fun for all. There were introductions and experiences shared culminating in a primer on how to play Peter Gabriel's Mercy Street by Gene Perry.

This Friday, February 28 at 10:30am PST, Gene Perry will be hosting the session. Gene and David will be switching roles as host and featured guest, and by request, David will be sharing his arrangement of Johnny Nash's "I can see clearly now".

What goes on during Free Hands Friday? These events foster communication, shared experiences, tips, tricks and general awareness for Chapman Stick players of any level of expertise. Free Hands Friday is hosted by The Free Hands Academy as part of it's Mission:

The Free Hands Academy (FHA) is wholly committed to providing a premium learning experience in Emmett Chapman’s Free Hands methodology and the many derivatives of the Chapman Stick (NS Stick, Stick Bass, etc.).

Want to host a session, perform on a session - or both!? Just add the Free Hands Academy on your g+ account. If you have questions on creating / configuring a g+ account, visit here. There is a hard limit of 10 people in the discussion - but anyone can watch the video in real time as well as viewing the discussion on youtube.com shortly after it posts. Be sure to send your requests to info@freehandsacademy.com if you want to attend a Friday session.

Some of our featured guests in March will include Dan Chapman, discussing his documentary in process entitled Emmett, Matt Tate, Randy Clere and Steve Adelson. We hope that you can attend a session, listen in on a session or check out the youtube recording of previous sessions - cheers.

I will bow out of joining until I have a Stick, though I will continue to watch. I cannot help but think someone else would make better use of my spot.

Great guys! What a wonderful use of technology. I would bet most people would lose a bit of interest after about 45 minutes or so, but speaking for myself, I was riveted to the edge of my seat. I can't wait for the next installment. Now to do something about these rivets, and the seat is probably useless now too. But keep 'em comin'!

Can't wait to watch the next one! I can't really join during work hours but I will at some point. Now all I need is Railboard to show up. Great job!

Thanks for the good word friends, the FHF hangout is a good example of all that we can achieve when we pull together.

Tip of hat to Ricardo Mendes of Portugal for brainstorming the concept and delivery of the g+ hangout. And of course to David Tipton for being so gracious with his time and expertise. There was a great team of US and Canadian testers for the program as well, including Dan Chapman, Greg Howard, Andy Prokopyk, Kevin Chiasson, Evan Cloutier and Paul Neufeld.

David Tipton will be closing out the month of February with an arrangement of Johnny Nash's "I can see clearly now". The March lineup will feature a variety of personalities in our community, the details of which will be posted on Saturday.

All ideas for sessions are welcome. If there is someone you want to see play or share, drop a line with ideas. Invites wills be sent out from the FHA g+ on Friday at 10:20am PST, drop a line to info@freehandsacademy.com if you would like to be included in the discussion or just watch along when you are able.

Cheers

There's also a Chapman Stick Community on G+. It's a great location for posting videos and interesting tidbits about the Stick and its players.

Just do a search on G+ for the community and join.
